North San Diego, riding a motorcycle, excelent idea. We have the best riding weather, you can ride all year long.
That bike, not a good idea. First, note is says it is a *dirt bike*, even if it looks like a street legal dual sport. Kalifornia does not like smog on street vehicles. You do not need hassles, thus you need a registered current license plate, of a new bike that the dealer will do the DMV paper.
Second problem, it’s Cheap Chinese Crap. A 10 year old Japanese legal street dual sport will cost more than that new bike. Clue! The CCC not *worth* as much. You can find a reasonable bike on Craig’s List or Cycle Trader — even if it takes you a month or two.
Your priority should be Reliable. When you pull the garage out do get to school you need it to start. Cheap is good, especially you are asking for cheap gas. If you cannot find a dual-sport, it is easy to find a 250cc cruiser, such as a Honda Rebel. You need you school books, you do not need it on your back when you drop the bike — get saddlebags. .50 cal ammo cases makes secure storage for cheap. And look really cool on a dual sport bike or a rat cruiser.
