What in this Aubrey Organics shampoo could be irritating me?
I’m using Aubrey Organics Honeysuckle Rose Moisturizing Shampoo and it’s giving me a slight rash on my neck and ears where my hair touches my skin. I’m not sure what could be doing it. Here are the ingredients:
Deionized Water, Coconut Oil-Corn Oil Soap, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein (made from organic, non-GMO soybeans), Organic Aloe Vera, Carrageenan, Honeysuckle Oil, Organic Rosa Mosqueta® Rose Hip Seed Oil; Extracts of Fennel, Hops, Balm Mint, Mistletoe, Camomile, Yarrow, Ginkgo, Ginseng, Angelica, Chrysanthemum, Magnolia, Horsetail, Coltsfoot and Forsythia; Vegetable Glycerin, Sweet Almond Oil, Linoleic Acid (Vitamin F), Vitamin E, Aloe Vera Oil, Macadamia Nut Oil, Organic Rosemary Oil, Organic Sage Oil, Aubrey’s Preservative (Citrus Seed Extract, Vitamins A, C and E).
You know, there are so many things that they add to shampoo these days in the hopes of making some extra sale, that one never knows what will cause an allergic reacton. Just from the list you have provided, there could be any one of the plant materials that could be causing a reaction. A lot of people have hay-fever, and will react with many of these pollen-producing plants… is that it? It could be the fragrances used. We just never know. How to determine that will be impossible for you on your own. You may have to see a dermatologist and have some allergy tests to determine which one it is.
See if you can locate just a plain simple basic shampoo. Not baby shampoo, for it has other things that you don’t need, but something like that. The more they add to the shampoo, the less you will want it. Look for Nexxus or Focus21 products — they usually have very good ingredients that should not cause any reaction.
